 Incredible Flying Objects has been part of the Disc Golf community since we opened in October 2006.  Not only do we sell the most popular discs, we have been dedicated to sponsoring local (and some out of town) Disc Golf tournaments, giving away tons of merchandise for prizes.  

During the summer of 2009 we placed a petition in the store asking people if  they would like to see a Disc Golf course in Winchester.  There were over 400 signatures obtained!  This information was presented to the Winchester Park Board and approval was obtained to have a course built.

  Thanks to the assistance of Brad Veach (Park Director) and several local Disc Golf players (most notably Ed Foster and Landon Furlong) we began searching for sponsors for the 18 holes.  Landon and Ed helped design the course and we were able to obtain the following sponsors for the first 9 holes:  Incredible Flying Objects, Furlong Sheet Metal, Greenwood Grocery and Deli, Element Sports, Fast Signs and the Winchester Parks and Rec Foundation.

The first 9 baskets are in place and the tee pads should be completed very soon (there is a regular and pro tee pad for each hole).  Many disc golfers have already played the course and say it is challenging and fun!

We had our first tournament on the course on May 16th, 2010.  Practice baskets were set up on all 18 proposed holes and all entry fees went to help fund the back 9 holes.  $915.00 was raised--enough to fund another hole and then some extra!!  Below is a picture of some of the players from the first tournament.




We have also started the Shenandoah Valley Disc Golf Club (SVDGC).  So far we have six members and would love many more.  Membership is $25.00 a year. Information and memberships can be obtained at our store and tournaments.  Benefits include reduction in fees for club sponsored tournaments, discounts on Disc Golf equipment at Incredible Flying Objects and ability to participate in leagues when they are formed.  More benefits will be added as they are obtained.

We had our 2nd fundraising tournament on July 11th and it turned out great.  The weather was perfect and 19 players came out to help us raise $518.00 for the back 9 holes.  Overall winner was Steve Jewell with a course setting record 57!! That is fantastic considering the par is 74 for the course!! Way to go Steve!!! Steve was also the winner in the pro division.  Other winners include: Gary Auerbach (Advanced), Jon Nicely (Amateur), and Jason Smith (Recreational).  Brad Veach (Parks and Rec Director) gave a nice dedication speech.
